He was a 38 year old laborer in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company D, 14th Louisiana Infantry on 22 June 1861. He was wounded and captured in action at Seven Pines, VA on 1 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in US Army Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 10 October, and sent to Ft McHenry on 13 October. He was paroled through Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862 and exchanged. Reported as a deserter on 1 May 1864. Also recorded as captured in action near Fredericksburg, VA on 4 May 1863. Took the loyalty oath in Washington, DC on 24 June 1863.
