Age 26, from Lapeer County, he enlisted there in Company G, Seventh Michigan Infantry on 6 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863. He was discharged at the expiration of his term of service at Petersburg, VA on 22 August 1864.
