Age 22, from Jonesville, he enlisted there in Company G, Seventh Michigan Infantry as Sergeant on 19 January (?) 1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 22 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He died of disease at Harpers Ferry, VA on 13 November 1862.
