Commissioned First Lieutenant May 20, 1863. Mustered June 18, 1863. Commissioned Captain, Company C, Sept. 21, 1863. Wounded in action at Spottsylvania, Va., May 13, 1864. Commissioned Lieutenant Colonel, Oct. 12, 1864. Brevet to Colonel US Volunteers, April 2, 1865, for gallant and meritorious services in front of Petersburg, Va. Commissioned Colonel of the 7th Michigan Infantry Nov. 11, 1864. Mustered out at Jeffersonville, Ind., July 5, 1865.
