From Lapeer County. Enlisted in Company G, Seventh Infantry, Aug. 6, 1861, at Lapeer, for 3 years, age 21.

He was wounded in the leg in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was hospitalized at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, PA on 20 September 1862, listed there as a Corporal. He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.

At least one family genealogist has his birth as July 11, 1846, which would have made him 15 years old at enlistment, 16 at Antietam, and not quite 17 at death.
