Possibly an overseer in Alabama before the War, he enlisted as Private in Company B, 16th Georgia Infantry on 17 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 14 September 1862 at Crampton's Gap.
The rest of the War
Admitted to General Hospital #4, at Richmond, Virginia October 13, 1862. Furloughed to Athens, Georgia for 30 days October 18, 1862. Transferred to Company C, 3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters. Wounded, left leg fractured, in 1864. Admitted to Jackson Hospital at Richmond, Virginia September 18, 1864. Furloughed for 60 days November 20, 1864. Pension records show he was on wounded furlough close of war.
