Before Sharpsburg

A clergyman's son, in 1860 he was a 22 year old student living with his parents and 6 siblings near Hartwell in Hart County, GA. He enlisted on 13 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company C, 16th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg. According to his brother Swan, who was with him, he was "hit in the head with a mini ball and his head just exploded."

The rest of the War

His father Samuel filed a claim for his final pay of $160.23 in November 1862.
