Before Sharpsburg
In the 1850 Federal Census he was a farmer in Franklin County, GA and an overseer in Hart County by 1860. He enlisted as Private in Company C, 16th Georgia Infantry on 13 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds at Winchester, VA on 17 November 1862.
