In 1860 he was a 20 year old living on his parent's farm in the Harbins District, Cherokee County, GA. He enlisted as Private in Company G, 23rd Georgia Infantry on 24 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 20 September 1862. His father Adin applied for his final pay in January 1863, and was sent $114 in October 1863.
