Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 35 year old farmer on his parent's place at Granby in Hartford County, CT. He enlisted and mustered as a Private in Company C, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 5 October 1861. He was appointed Corporal on 1 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
