In 1860 he was a 40 year old day laborer in Litchfield, CT. He enlisted on 6 September 1861 and mustered a Private in Company E, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 25 September.

On the Campaign

He was killed by a shot in the head in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
