In 1860 he was a 16 year old comb maker living with the H.H. Brooks family in Meriden, CT. He enlisted on 25 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 8th Connecticut Infantry on 30 September.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
