A 22 year old stone cutter, he enlisted 3 May 1861 at New York City, and mustered in as Private, Company H on 4 May 1861 to serve two years.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of his wounds at the Locust Spring field hospital at Keedysville near Sharpsburg, MD on 14 October 1862.
