Before Antietam
Probably then living in Harrison County, VA, he enlisted (probably in August 1861) in Company H, 7th West Virginia Infantry and transferred to Company B.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the chest in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was 14 months in a hospital in Parkersburg, and probably spent some of that time helping to care for other patients. He was discharged for disability in 1864 and moved to Indiana.
After the War
He died of pneumonia.
