Age 29, from Reading, PA, he enlisted there on 4 August 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company I, 128th Pennsylvania Infantry on 15 August in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate for disability on 10 November 1862.

After the War

He lived in Reading and was a caulker at the Water Department at his death at age 58.
