He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Promoted 3rd Corporal after 31 December 1862, to 2nd Corporal after May 1864. Wounded again in the Wilderness, VA in May 1864. Later a prisoner of war, he was in Point Lookout at the end of the War.
