From the Orangeburg District, he was conscripted and enlisted at Lexington as a Private in Company H, Third South Carolina Infantry on 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was reported "lost in Maryland" in September 1862 and was probably mortally wounded there.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to CSA General Hospital #12 in Richmond, VA about 31 October 1862 and died there of wounds and/or typhoid pneumonia on 10 December 1862. His Captain still had him as missing as late as June 1864.
