Enlisted at age 20 from the Spartanburg District in Company K, Third Infantry on 14 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Wounded again in action at Fredericksburg, VA 13 December 1862. Returned to his Company 7 July 1863, and transferred to Company D in 1865. Paroled at Greensboro, NC in April 1865.
