Before Antietam

He had served in the Mexican War (1846-48), probably as a Private in Watson's Battalion, Maryland and District of Columbia Infantry. In 1860 he was a 42 year old merchant at Monkton in Baltimore County, MD. He enrolled on 22 June 1861 as Captain, Company F, 2nd Maryland Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
