Before Antietam

A railroad worker, he enlisted in Company A, 7th Ohio Infantry (3 months) and was appointed 2nd Sergeant. He reenlisted for 3 years in the 7th Infantry, Company A, on 19 June 1861 as Orderly Sergeant.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 7 November 1862 and First Lieutenant 1 January 1863. Wounded through both legs at Ringgold, GA on 27 November 1863. Mustered out with his Company on 6 July 1864.

After the War

Wrote the Antietam article in the Regimental history Itinerary (1907).
