Before Antietam

He enlisted at age 25 in Company K, 7th Ohio Infantry for 3 years on 3 June 1861. He was appointed Corporal on 9 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the side in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Sergeant on 1 January 1863, and discharged for wounds at Baltimore, MD on 10 April 1863. He may have served as First Lieutenant, Company C, 167th Ohio Infantry (National Guard) for 100-days service, mostly in West Virginia from May - September 1864.
