Before Antietam
He enlisted on 22 April 1861 in the 7th Infantry (3 months) as Private, Company B. He reenlisted in the same company, 7th Ohio (3 years) on 19 June 1861 giving his age as 24 [20].
On the Campaign
He was present for action at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was appointed Sergeant on 20 June 1863. Mustered out with his Company on 6 July 1864.
After the War
After the War he studied the Law and was admitted to the Bar. He practiced law in partnership with Jacob Miller (his brother-in-law?), who was later Lieutenant Governor of Ohio. He was mayor of West Cleveland, OH.
