He was 34 years old and a carpenter living in New Orleans when he enlisted as Private, Company G, 10th Louisiana Infantry on 22 July 1861, at Camp Moore, La. He was present to 31 December 1861, and was appointed 4th Corporal on 1 December 1861. He was reduced to the ranks 1 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action and captured on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital in Frederick, MD on 10 October 1862. He was later on the Federal Roll of Prisoners of War Captured on South Mountain, MD July 5th, 1863 (Gettysburg Campaign). Admitted to USA General Hospital, Frederick, MD on 7 July 1863. Forwarded to Fort Delaware, DE on 9 July 1863, from Fort McHenry,MD. Paroled at Fort Delaware, 14 September 1864. Exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA 18 September 1864. On Rolls of Prisoners of War Paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 10 April 1865.
