He enlisted in Company I, 15th Louisiana Infantry on 9 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was then an unmarried 26 year old laborer in Trinity, LA. His description: Complexion, Dark. Hair, Brown. Eyes, Grey. Height. 5 ft. 7 in.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was back with his Company by December 1862. He was again captured, in action at Mine Run, VA on 28 November 1863. He was reported as "Deserted to the Enemy Nov. 27th, 1863." He was sent to the Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC on 5 December 1863. He was released on Oath and sent to Philadelphia on 15 March 1864.

After the War

He was later a resident of Peoria, IL.
