A 33 year old sailor living in New Orleans, he enlisted there in Company B, 5th Louisiana Infantry on May 10th, 1861. He was assigned as "Officers' and Hospl. Cook" into August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was "Absent, Wounded" to August 1863, and detailed to Danville, VA to August 1864.
