He was a 27 year old married baker in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company I, 6th Louisiana Infantry on June 4th, 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He lost his right arm and was detached on detail or on furlough after Sharpsburg til late 1864. He was retired by a Medical Examining Boarrd. He was listed on a Roll of Prisoners of War of Detailed Men, Post of Grenada, MS, C. S. A., paroled at Grenada on May 18th, 1865.
