Before Antietam
An 18 year old farm boy in Tamworth, he enlisted in the Third Company, New Hampshire Sharpshooters on 22 November 1861. They became Company G, 2nd US Sharpshooters, and he mustered with them on 12 December 1861 as Private.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
