He was severely wounded in the hip in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

Captured in action at Fredericksburg, VA on December 13, 1862 (giving his age as 26). Paroled at Richmond, VA on May 8, 1863. Captured near Spotsylvania, VA on May 23, 1864. Paroled for exchange March 14, 1865.

After the War

He farmed cotton in Georgia, then moved to Waelder, Texas in 1870. In 1882 he moved to Harper, TX.
