He enlisted in Company E, the Starke Guards, as Private on 23 September 1861. They became Company E, 26th Georgia Infantry. He was listed in Company F, 7th Georgia Battalion by January 1862. By April they had merged into the 61st at Macon in 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
