On the Campaign
He was wounded in the abdomen and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was in Frederick, MD until October 27, when he was transferred to Baltimore. He was kept at Ft. McHenry and at the Camden Street Hospital until 13 March 1863, when he was transferred to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. He was admitted to the Smallpox Hospital at Petersburg, Virginia, on 1 April 1863 and died there on 6 April.
