Before Antietam
From Dover, he enlisted at age 21 in Company D, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 26 October 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He was discharged for disability on 4 January 1864.
