Before Antietam

From Lempster, he enlisted at age 18 in Company D, First New Hampshire Infantry, for 3 months, on 24 April 1861. He mustered out on 9 August 1861. He reenlisted, in Company K, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 5 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He died of his wounds on 18 September 1862 at the Mill Creek Hospital.
