Before Antietam
From Stratford, he enlisted at age 35 in Company B, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 28 September 1861. He was wounded at Fair Oaks, VA on 1 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, near Petersburg, VA on 17 June 1864. He mustered out at the end of his term of service on 29 October 1864.
