Before Antietam
From Charlestown, he enlisted at age 19 in Company G, on 27 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was severely wounded in action on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He transferred to the Invalid Corps then to Company B, 21st Regiment, US Veteran Reserve Corps on 1 September 1863. He reenlisted on 20 April 1864, and transferred to the 5th Independent Company, VRC. He was listed as deserting his unit on 29 September 1865 at Trenton, NJ.
