Before Antietam
From Rochester, he enlisted at age 28 in Company D, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 23 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, at Cold Harbor, VA on 3 June 1864. He mustered out at the end of his term of service on 29 October 1864.
