Before Antietam
From Wakefield, he enlisted as Corporal at age 20 in Company H, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 17 September 1861. He was promoted Sergeant, date not given.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, Company E on 16 November 1863. He was wounded again, at Cold Harbor, VA on 3 June 1864. He was discharged for wounds on 6 September 1864.
After the War
He was living in Fond du Lac, WI by 1893.
