He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, Company E on 16 November 1863. He was wounded again, at Cold Harbor, VA on 3 June 1864. He was discharged for wounds on 6 September 1864.

After the War

He was living in Fond du Lac, WI by 1893.
