Before Antietam
From Charlestown, he enlisted at age 19 in Company G, 5th New Hampshire Infantry on 27 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862. He reenlisted 19 February 1864, and was appointed Sergeant. He was killed in action near Petersburg, VA on 17 June 1864.
