A 19 year old clay-digger in Allgheney County, he enlisted on 14 August 1862 in Pittsburgh, and mustered there as Private, Company F, 155th Pennsylvania Infantry on 2 September.

On the Campaign

He died of disease near Sharpsburg, MD on 3 October 1862.
