Before Sharpsburg
A farmer in Ashley County before the War, he enlisted in Company B, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, at Berlin, Arkansas, March 3, 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
His left leg was amputated and he was confined at the Federal hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia, November 10, 1862 and furloughed to Arkansas in January 1863.
