Before Sharpsburg
He was in Mississippi as a child, and a farmer in Ashley County, AR by about 1857. He enlisted in Company A, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, at Portland, Arkansas, May 20, 1861.
The rest of the War
He was wounded in action at Chickamauga, GA on September 19, 1863. He was paroled at Charlotte, NC at War's end on May 19, 1865.
After the War
He moved to California in 1869 and married Florence Walker in 1874.
