Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company F, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Rockport, Arkansas on June 20, 1861, and was promoted to Fourth Sergeant later in 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Third Sergeant in February 1864, and wounded at the Wilderness, Virginia on May 6, 1864. His leg was amputated, but he died of wounds at Lynchburg, Virginia on June 16, 1864.

Basic information from Howerton1. Family genealogists and a local history have him dying in 1863 or 1864 from wounds received at Gettysburg. Some have his birth year as 1826. He married Hannah Emerson Miller (1840-1861) in Hot Spring County, Arkansas on December 21, 1854. He was listed in Hot Spring County in the 1860 US Census; occupation farmer.
