He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland until exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 10, 1862. He was absent on detached service to division artillery on June 9, 1863. He was captured at Amelia Court House, Virginia on April 5, 1865 and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland until released on an oath of allegiance to the United States on June 17, 1865.
After the War
He bought land in Montgomery County, AR in 1890.
