Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted in Company G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Three Creeks, Arkansas on June 19, 1861.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was paroled at Keedysville, Maryland on September 19, 1862. He was wounded in the right foot and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1863, and confined in the U.S. Army Hospital at Baltimore, Maryland until paroled on November 12, 1863. He was furloughed in December 1864.
After the War
He married Alabama Hicks December 8, 1869.
