He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 2, 1862. He was listed as absent without leave on August 1, 1863 and dropped from the rolls on August 31, 1864. He took an oath of allegiance to the United States at Pine Bluff, Arkansas on May 2, 1865, stating his residence as Columbia County, Arkansas.
