He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland until exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 10, 1862. He was furloughed to Arkansas to recover from wounds on November 17, 1862, and was listed as absent without leave in Arkansas on December 9, 1862. He was dropped from the rolls on August 31, 1863.
