Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company K, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Hamburg, Arkansas on May 20, 1861, and was promoted to Second Corporal. He was appointed musician and transferred to the regimental band on February 28, 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland untill exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 2, 1862. He later served as First Sergeant in Company G, 4th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment.
