Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted as musician in Company K, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Hamburg, Arkansas on March 1, 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland until exchanged on October 20, 1862. He transferred to the regimental band in January 1863. He later served as Sergeant in Company G, 4th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment.
