He enlisted in Company K, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Hamburg, Arkansas on March 1, 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland until exchanged at Aiken's Landing, Virginia on November 10, 1862. He transferred to the regimental band as chief musician in February 1863. He was captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1863 with no further military record.
