He was a 19 year old river pilot in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company G, First Louisiana Volunteers on May 2, 1861 in New Orleans.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was admitted on October 2, 1862 to the Confederate Hospital at Culpepper, VA. Rolls to March 1863 show him absent for wounds and detailed on hospital duty. By August 1864 he was listed as absent, whereabouts unknown, probably on furlough home.
