Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company D, 2nd Louisiana Infantry on May 11, 1861 in New Orleans. He was absent, sick, in hospital in Williamsburg, VA, then on detached duty Winn's Mills early in 1862. He was sick in Staunton, VA in July and August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was paroled and sent from Ft. McHenry, MD to Fortress Monroe,VA for exchange on October 18, 1862. He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing,VA on November 10, 1862. He was absent, wounded, until at least February 1864.
